Notes Translated from the Finnish by Edward Birse, this biography is of the composer Jean Sibelius, known to be one of the greatest composers of his time. Foreward is written by Ernest Newman and frontis is a portrait of Sibelius. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. It is clean, straight & tight. Lower spine end and corners are a bit worn, previous owner's gift inscription is neatly written on the front endpage and is dated 1938. The interior is very clean without marks or tears. Upper page edges are tinted red. The dust jacket is clean; it has quite a bit of edgewear, chipping, rubbing and edgetears that are internally mended.
