Notes Beautifully produced book with a very dark brown full smooth (not suede) leather binding with the book's title deeply blindstamped on the front cover and spine. The title page has 2 red stylized flower-like decorative emblems, with the bottom emblem larger and with its center illustration slightly different than the one at the upper page end. Each chapter has the same red decoration as the upper one on the title page near the top of its first page, and each text page has a red line underscoring the book's title and page number. The book is very clean, straight and tight. The leather spine is somewhat sunned with its ends a bit scuffed and rubbed, as are the binding's corner tips. The interior of the book is very clean without any soiling, foxing or tears aside from foxing to the front side only of the first regular paper front end page where it faces the hand-made paper that both the front/back pastedowns and end pages are made from (lovely paper with random speckles of various sizes/colors from heavier hand-made paper). There are 12 pages throughout the book also made of a darker shade of the same type hand-made paper with smaller but similar speckles of various other hand-made papers scattered throughout each. Those 12 pages have red/black illustrations on the front sides, and 'sayings' on the back. The original ribbon bookmark (dark red) is present and attached. A previous owner's name and the date 1923 are very neatly written on the first regular-paper endpage. No DJ, as issued. A satirical spoof of medicine and doctors. ; Drawings; 8.5 x 6 inches; 108 pages
