Notes 1st edition/1st printing. Rare set - this is the 20 volumes plus Index volume original set. The Index covers all 20 volumes of the prose and poetry published 1 volume per year from 1895 through 1914, and sold by subscription only. Each work in the Bibleot had been published by Mosher in monthly magazines previously, but not together in book format. This set is NOT the much more common Wise reprint set later published all at once in 1925 as a limited edition. The whole collection of 20 volumes are 1st editions/1st printings as collections of prose and poetry that Mosher admired, and were published 1 book yearly by Thomas Bird Mosher from 1895 through 1914. All books are 6-1/8" tall x 4-3/4" wide and have varying numbers of pages depending on each volume's contents. They are bound in light blue paper covered boards with white spines with raised bands with red and black printing, and the outer and lower page edges are untrimmed and rough-cut. They have both the blue and regular white paper title pages. Each book has the original owner's very small neatly written name (a deceased Catholic priest) and the signatures are dated. Other than some uniform slight age-darkening from white to ivory of some of the spines and a tiny bit of age-darkening around the borders of some of the bindings, the books are as new - straight, clean & so tightly bound they can never have been read. A remarkable and very rare set of fine literature and poetry, all 1st edition/1st printings as a set and from one person's collection bought yearly as they were published. Mosher republished many author's books and poetry with true love for details and quality printing for people not wealthy so more people could be exposed to beautiful books with fine printing and binding and great poetry and literature, and his works are now highly collectible. Note that if the name "Wise" or the year 1925 is on the title or copyright page of any volume in a set, or if a set is advertised as a limited edition or in slipcase(s), it is NOT this set of true 1st printings of Mosher's Bibelot. ; Vol. 21 v
