Mr. Mails has also drawn a small sign of some sort in ink above his name. Profusely illustrated in color and B&W throughout. Lovely example of this very scarce signed huge and heavy classic about the Plains Indians and their way of life. Covers the origin, distribution, daily life, social customs, government, religion, lifestyle involving the buffalo and horse, arts and crafts, achievement marks, clothing, hair styles, jewelry, headdresses, weapons, training of boys to be warriors, and the redistribution and decline of the people of the plains. The book is bound in dark maroon cloth with gilt printing, and is straight, clean, tight, has no soiling, and has no handwriting other than the author's in it; there is a small, very slightly lighter spot to the upper front binding cloth, and just a trace of binding edgewear and slight sunning at upper back panel edge. The dustjacket is price intact, clean, crisp and unfaded and has no tears or chips; there are a couple of horizontal wrinkles to the upper back panel.
