Notes 1st edition/1st printing. Scarce book from the Civilization of the American Indian Series. Near fine plus book (a trace of wear to upper corners) in a very good plus to near fine DJ (small amount of rubbing, slight edgewear to spine ends & a couple of flap fold ends). The book is clean, straight, tight and has no writing in it; the DJ is price intact, clean & bright. Commentary by E. Adamson Hoebel and Karen Daniels Petersen. The author was a Cheyenne warrior who was one of 72 Plains Indian warriors imprisoned in Fort Marion Florida in 1875. He spent 3 years there, and sketched his memories and impressions of the old days of freedom, hunting and rituals, and his new life of captivity.
