I've always been a book lover and reader, and that led to my becoming a book seller in the very early 1990s after a long career in business, first with the store and later online only. My personal reading habits are 1) sci-fi and mysteries, 2) mythology and ancient religions, 3) the environment and ecology, 4) archaeology and anthropology, 5) Native Americans, and 6) an interest in technology and crafts (of all sorts) and how they've changed over time - I always want to know the 'how' and 'why'.

Reading is my passion, my relaxation and the last thing I do at night (unless I'm in a movie mood), even after full days around books. I will never 'know it all' about books, but continually learning about them will keep my brain active (and entertained) the rest of my life.

Other interests shared with my husband are photography, art and antiques, and a love of animals - wild and domestic. We live in the country, so I can watch wildlife from my office windows while working. We have two dogs (chows) and nine cats (RIP Shadow 2-25-10, our over 20 kitty), all adopted from in the dogs' cases breed-specific rescues, and in the cats' cases shelters and humane societies, or orphans who found us. Our dogs and cats get along with each other extremely well.

I grew up in Oklahoma, but lived most of my life in California (both southern and northern) and Colorado, with shorter stays in Kansas City and Lake Of The Ozarks, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska. My husband, who does my shipping and bookkeeping, is from the Chicago area, though we met in California. He is a retired electronics engineering manager, who worked on the development of the Hubble Space Telescope. Our daughter and her husband, and the multitude of animals they have - including the Arabian horses she breeds - live in Washington state. She is also a software guru.

We've been lucky enough to have traveled extensively in our younger years, both because of my husband's job and just on our own. Travel is another 'love' but it seems we never get away from the business these days for a period long enough to take extended trips.

Some favorite places, both in the U.S. and abroad: Sedona, Arizona and other Red Rock country in the U.S. West, the Rocky Mountains and all nearby areas of the states they're in, the redwood areas of California, Nantucket and the U.S. Northeast, Victoria, B.C., England and Ireland (love the sense of antiquity in both of the latter and am a great fan of standing stones), Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. All incredibly lovely places.

Now, is that more than you ever wanted to know about us personally??

Regarding our business:

We got our business name from the store we had in Boulder, Colorado. We sold books (at that time used, rare 'and' new), antiques, and also local artists' and craftspeople's work. Our store was in a very old house that had gone through several incarnations in its life, the last before us as a dance studio, so each wall was well insulated for sound with carpeting and had windows into the other rooms. Some of the artists whose work I sold made large paintings for us to cover some windows on the front of the building that had been boarded up during its life as a dance studio. Quite a unique place.
